Special knife
Can I sharpen a serrated knife in the Vulkanus?
Of course: Hold the knife horizontally and turn it with the sharpened side of the cutting edge towards the sharpening insert.
I have a ceramic knife, may I sharpen it in Vulkanus?
No, by no means. These knives are made of a particularly hard and
sensitive brittle material. You would damage both your knife and your
volcano. Take the knife to a professional sharpening service.
Japanese knives
Can I also use a Japanese knife with a one-sided grind with the

This is also no problem. Proceed as you would with a serrated knife.
And what about a Japanese knife with a double-edged blade?
The process is no different from that for classic knives.
Application
How often should I pull the knife through the vulcanus?
We recommend checking the sharpness of the blade after approx. 4 strokes and in the
repeat the process if necessary. This allows you to achieve optimum sharpness with minimum blade wear.

I have to pull my knife through the vulcanus very often to keep it sharp.
get. Why?
Each time the blade is sharpened, the cutting edge shifts towards the back of the blade. As the blade becomes thicker and thicker, more and more material has to be
removed. When the cutting edge area is used up, have it sharpened again by a sharpening service.

How do I get my Vulkanus clean again?
Simply put it in the dishwasher and sit back.
